EMI1.1
In many stringed instruments there is a need for a device which allows the strings to be tuned to a finer degree and more conveniently than the commonly used pegs.
In the already known devices of this type, the strings are tuned by actuating screws which are arranged in the plane of the strings.
Even with the smallest construction, these devices therefore require a lot of lateral space; so they can only be used where the side distance is quite large (e.g. with violins) On the other hand, they cannot be used on pianos where the strings belonging to a tone are close to each other.
A string tuning device that is free from the aforementioned disadvantage forms the subject of the present invention.
Their basic idea is to accomplish the deflection of the string by twisting a non-circular disc arranged in the plane of the string. According to this principle, string tuning devices can be built whose width is only slightly larger than the thickness of the strings and which can therefore also be used on pianos.
In Fig. 1 and 2, a represents a string piece stretched between the points bund b1. The non-round disc c is rotatably arranged around the axis d by means of the socket wrench e and, depending on its position, causes a more or less large deflection of the string piece a and thus a change in mood.
The axis d is advantageously designed as a circular disk, which is firmly connected to the non-circular disk c and is rotatable in the bearing case t. It is provided with a slot or a shoulder for attaching a tuning key (Fig. 3).
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. String tuning device for pianos u. Like., in which the tension change of the string takes place by bending out an originally straight stretched piece of string, characterized in that this bending is brought about by adjusting a non-circular disc lying in the plane of the string.
