Apparatus for generating living pictures with a constantly moving picture band and optical compensation of the picture wandering.
In the case of demonstration apparatuses of so-called living light images with constantly moving picture tape and an optical device to compensate for the image wandering, the sharp, in particular the horizontal image delimitation on the projection screen presents great difficulties. As is known, this limitation is intended to ensure that no neighboring images or parts thereof become visible outside the desired image or that the limitation of the desired image appears sharp.
In addition to other attempts to achieve this purpose, it has already been proposed that a real still image of the moving film should not be created immediately on the projection screen, but rather beforehand between the effective optical elements of the compensation device and the projection screen. From this intermediate image, all unwanted parts of the image are to be covered with the aid of a fixed screen and only the part left exposed is to be displayed on the projection screen.
To realize such an intermediate image z. For example, in German Patent No. 285557, a device for optically compensating for image wandering has been described, the rotating members of which form a ring of achromatic lenses which design this fixed real intermediate image from part of the moving film. The location of this intermediate image should coincide with the center of rotation of the lens ring, and the intermediate image is then imaged on the projection screen through a fixed lens. However, this arrangement still has considerable disadvantages. So is z. B. the realization of the intermediate image to a very specific device for optical compensation, namely to a lens wreath, and also the location of the intermediate image is linked to the center of rotation of the lens wreath.
This proposal therefore allows z. B. not to select one of the many known devices for optical compensation of the image wandering adapted to the respective purpose, and also not to freely dispose of the location of the intermediate image. In addition, the brightness of the real intermediate image is insufficient because the openings of the lenses of the ring are considerably limited.
The invention avoids the specified shortcomings of the proposal mentioned. To generate a fixed real image between the members of the compensation device and the projection screen, a fixed collecting lens system and an optical compensation device are used, the elements of which are arbitrary and, for example, mirrors. Prisms or lenses can exist By the arrangement of a special collecting lens system the existence of the real intermediate

to be able to make an appropriate choice. This results in very special basic and technical advantages in that, according to the invention, the fixed, converging lens system contributes twice to the generation of the image as a result of back reflection of the imaging beam.
This back reflection can advantageously take place both by means of moving reflective surfaces belonging to the compensating device or also by means of one or more special fixed reflective surfaces; it is immaterial whether the back reflection is caused by a single or several reflective surfaces. There are also cases where a combination of both moving and stationary mirrors is useful. The back reflection by means of moving reflective surfaces usually leads to particularly simple solutions if the elements of the compensation device already
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
consist of reflective surfaces.
The arrangement of one or more fixed, reflective surfaces, on the other hand, has advantages when, for reasons of optical compensation, the links of the balancing device have to be used twice or a long beam path between two stress-compensating links must be avoided.
1-2 and 3-4 two embodiments of the invention are shown in a schematic manner. In the first embodiment (Fig. 1 and 2) the double cooperation of the fixed collecting lens system takes place by back reflection on moving reflective surfaces that belong to the compensation device, while in the second embodiment (Fig. 3 and 4) the double participation by back reflection on a solid reflective surface comes about.
It means in Fig. 1 and 2a an illustrated book of known type, for. B. a film which in Fig. I in the direction of the arrow, in Fig. 2, however, moves uniformly from top to bottom perpendicular to the plane of the drawing somewhat to the side of the optical axis of a fixed, collecting lens system b c. This lens system b c is expediently arranged in this way with respect to the film a. that a picture of part of the film is drawn at infinity.
So that the rays can penetrate the lens system bc a second time and so the second contribution of the same comes about, an optical compensation device of a known type, a rotating mirror ring, which is composed of plane mirrors d "t., D ....... and forms a regular polygon, arranged in such a way that the optical axis of the lens system & c intersects the axis of rotation e of the mirror rim perpendicularly, as a result of which the reflected bundle of rays is thrown back into the collecting lens system bc.
This creates a real image of a piece of film in the focal plane of the latter, but on the other side of the optical axis, which is fixed as soon as the speed of the compensating device has been brought into agreement with that of the film in a known manner. A diaphragm g arranged at the image location then ensures the desired masking out of undesired image parts, so that only a single sharply delimited image appears in it. This delimited image is then imaged on the projection screen in a known manner by a projection objective A with the intermediary of an auxiliary mirror i. Any light source Je and a converging lens l are used to illuminate the film.
In the overall arrangement, the converging lens b assumes the position of a so-called collective lens, which is used to image the light source in the entrance pupil of the entire apparatus with the cooperation of the converging lens 1 and the lens system c.
In FIGS. 3 and 4, the parts also contained in FIGS. 1 and 2 are provided with the same reference numerals. The compensating device here consists of a rotatable lens ring whose members Mi, M, Ms ........ form prisms of variable deflection in a known manner when rotated about a common axis in conjunction with a fixed plano-concave lens M. The back reflection takes place on a fixed reflective surface o. The other components are the same as in the first embodiment, and the rest of the entire arrangement corresponds to the same.
