Pegs for string instruments.
In order to prevent the strings from weakening, the pegs have been equipped with a wide variety of locking mechanisms, none of which, however, have found general use due to their cumbersome and expensive arrangement. To remedy this disadvantage is the purpose of the invention, which essentially consists in that the vertebral shaft is spread in the axial direction against both sides of the wall of the vertebral box.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the vortex is shown, u. Between FIG. 1 shows a longitudinal section, FIG. 2 shows a side view of the same and FIGS. 3 and 4 show individual parts in different views.
The eddy shaft is offset according to the illustrated embodiment. The stronger part a lies within the pegbox and is supported with a tightly drawn collar b against the wall x of the pegbox. The hole cl is used in a known manner to attach the string.
On the weaker vertebral shaft protruding from the pegbox, the vertebral column sits loosely.
EMI1.1
On the outer surface facing the end of the shaft part a ', the vertebra grip' has an angular recess 1 "into which a coupling piece g penetrated by the shaft part a 'is fitted (FIG. 3). Shaped ubengange, on which the view of the corresponding second coupling piece h rests, which is riveted to the square end c of the shaft part cil.
The mode of action of this vortex is as follows: The tension exerted by the string on the vertebral shaft tends to turn the vertebral shaft, in that the visual shafts of the coupling pieces g, h try to slide past each other, but the gradient of the visual shafts is greater than the axial play made possible by the grip . There is therefore only a slight rotation of the coupling piece h against the coupling piece g. This causes an axial displacement of the vertebral grip, which is held in place by spreading the cone e against the outside of the vertebral box wall x itself, while the vertebral shaft is subjected to a pulling effect in the outward direction. according to which you can see the collar b on the inside of the wall x pressure.
As a result, even with low string tension, the peg is held in every position given to it by the peg handle, and this is all the more effective, the stronger the tension of the string.
In this way, the peg shaft follows the turns of the peg handle both when tensioning and when the string is intended to be slackened, without being able to turn back automatically as a result of the pull of the latter.
