Connection of timber using flat iron dowels
The invention relates to the connection of two axially stressed pieces of wood, for the purpose of a proper transmission of the axial forces and consists essentially in the fact that flat iron dowels in recesses of the adjacent side surfaces of the to be connected
EMI1.1
are prevented under the influence of external forces. In the present case, according to the invention, the intended purpose is achieved by appropriately slitting and bending the flat iron dowel ends and fastening the flaps obtained in this way to the pieces of wood to be connected. An exemplary embodiment is shown in FIGS.
For example, according to FIG. 1, the two struts of a framework are to be connected to one another in such a way that the vertical components V of the two strut forces D balance each other, while the horizontal components H in any arbitrary manner not to be discussed here, for example by a third rod, are to be included.
This is now done by a flat iron dowel F, the ends of which form elongated lobes on both sides, which are created by slitting the dowel along its axis, and which are bent to both sides in such a way that the lobes lie against the associated struts, where they are attached by nails , Screws or the like. Are held immovably and thus prevent rotation of the anchor about its longitudinal axis. The length of the flaps and the number of nails or screws must be calculated separately for each case. In the direction perpendicular to the plane of the picture, the diverging of the linked pieces of wood is prevented by nails, screws or the like.
In Fig. 2, this type of wood connection is shown axonometrically, a strut is intended to be lifted.
