Karbidlampe.

Carbide lamp.
The subject matter of the invention relates to carbide lamps in which the carbide container is pushed into the gas container from below in a known manner. The known types of embodiment almost always have the disadvantage that the water is supplied to the carbide in such a way that there is a stormy gas development and an intermittent one
Burning of the flame cannot be prevented effectively. According to the invention, the aim is to create a gradual water supply to the carbide that can be easily regulated with the simplest means and in the simplest embodiment, whereby a uniform and shock-free evolution of gas and therefore a steady burning of the luminous flame is ensured.
The purpose of the invention is achieved in that the water container surrounding the gas container is double-walled, the inner jacket part of the same being pulled down to the level of the water entry point into the carbide space. This creates a water storage chamber that is closed at the top and also acts as a cooling jacket, the water column of which can be regulated to act on the water column causing the water entry to the carbide by a lockable air supply.
In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in elevation, partially in section. The outer jacket of the lamp is formed by the water container 1, at the lower end of which a collecting tray 2 for draining water is attached. In the upper part of the water tank 1, which is closed at the bottom, is double-walled, the inner casing part 3 for insertable, open at the bottom
Gas container 4 forms a guide. The casing part 3 extends downwards to the upper edge of the carbide container 5, which can be pushed into the gas container 4 from below. The latter carries a bracket 6 at the lower end, on which the carbide container 5 can be grasped and pushed into the gas container 4.
A pin 7 is arranged on the hanger 6, by means of which the carbide container 5 can be held a little above the lower edge of the gas container by means of a bayonet-like lock 8. The water tank forms a cavity 9 through the downwardly guided inner wall 3, which is controllably connected to the outside air by a shut-off valve 10. A screw 11 is used to fill the container 1 with water after its removal. The burner 12 is arranged at the upper end of the gas container 4, with a shut-off valve 13 being provided in order to regulate or completely shut off the gas admission to the burner.
In order to put the lamp into operation, the carbide container 5 is first filled with carbide, pushed into the gas container 4 from below and fastened therein by means of the bayonet lock 7, 8. After the gas container has been pushed into the water container 1, the screw 11 is removed and the water container 1 is filled, whereupon the screw 11 is closed again. Now the air cock 10, like the burner cock 13, is opened and the lamp is lit after the gas has developed and the air has escaped. A steady and evenly burning flame can be achieved by setting the air cock and the burner cock accordingly.
If the operation of the lamp is to be interrupted, the air tap is first shut off, whereby further access of the water to the carbide is shut off and the further development of gas is prevented. After the tap 13 is shut off, the lamp goes out, which is caused by the post-gasification of the carbide that has already been moistened

Wiggling gas collects in the space 14 below the carbide container and feeds the further entry of water. Any gas that may rise due to the internal overpressure is also collected in space 9 of the double-walled water tank and does not get outside.
If the lamp is to be put back into operation, the air cock 10 and the burner cock 13 are opened and the flame is ignited. In order to allow a renewed access of water to the carbide, the lamp is inclined a little, whereby the gas that has accumulated in space 14 flows out of this space and allows the water to access the carbide. After the lamp has been shut off by the internal overpressure
