Es werden nicht wie bisher Metall und Kohle mechanisch in Verbindung gebracht, sondern es wird sogenanntes Metallpapier (siehe z. B. das D. R. P. 97570), d. h. galvanisch oder mechanisch aus Metall-am besten aus galvanisch hergestelltem, chemisch reinem, vernickeltem Kupfer-hergestellte Folien, welche mit Papier oder einem ä.
quivalenten Stoff inmg verbunden sind, zunächst derart behandelt, dass auf die möglichst poröse nichtmetallische Schicht des Metallpapiers Kohle bildende, flüssige organische Substanzen (Lösungen von Zucker, Gummi, Harzen und dergl.) so lange aufgetragen werden, bis das Ganze eine zum grössten Theile aus den genannten organischen Körpern bestehende feste und innigst zusammenhängende Platte bildet.
Die so erzeugte Platte organischer Körper wird nun vollständig wasserfrei gemacht und darauf in die erforderliche Bürstenform gebracht und dann unter hohem Druck so stark wie möglich zusammengepresst Nachdem die organischen Körper nun so vorbereitet sind, findet alsdann erst die Verkohlung derselben, und zwar unter Luftabschluss statt-
Bei dem so hergestellten Stoff sind Metall und Kohle so innig verbunden, dass sie ein gleichmässig elastisches und durch das Schleifen am Collector nicht differentiell abnutzbares Ganzes bilden und in Bürstenform für die Stromabnahme am Collector die oben geschilderten Vortheile gewähren.
