Ein in dieser Weise beiderseitig mit Kasein-Alkalilösung imprägniertes starkes Papier oder ebensolche Kartons eignet sich daher vorzüglich als Isoliermaterial für Elektrizität und Wasser.
Es wurde vorgeschlagen, Papier mit Leim oder Hausenblasensubstanz zu bestreichen, jedoch haben diese Substanzen die Eigenschaft, sich bei Berührung mit Wasser wieder aufzulösen und infolge ihrer hygroskopischen Beschaffenheit den elektrischen Strom zu leiten.
