Process for the production of aniline black on wool and other animal species
Fibers.
The subject matter of the present invention is a process for dyeing wool and other animal fibers by means of aniline black, a dye that has so far only been used with success in the processing of cotton. The processes that have become known for producing aniline black on animal wool
EMI1.3
by chlorinated lime and hydrochloric acid, and this for the purpose of abolishing the reducing property of the cloud, since this alone was black as that of direct coloring with aniline. opposing obstacle was considered.
The method of the English patent specification No. 2327 of 1865, as well as that of the German patent specification No. 68887, which publications differ mainly only with regard to the strength of the preceding oxidation, are based on this principle. This well-known pretreatment of wool has the important sewing effect that when the wool is treated very vigorously with oxidizing agents, the fiber is considerably affected or weakened without guaranteeing a smooth, informal dyeing.
EMI1.4
It is now shown that it is not the reducing property of the wave alone, but rather its alkaline reaction, that has hitherto been the insurmountable obstacle to its smooth coloring with aniline black.
EMI1.5
To remove the reducing properties of the wool, the block mixture is then given an excess of chlorate.
To carry out the process, the wool is first soaked in diluted acid and boiled for about an hour. The application of the boiling point is necessary because the saturation of the Wo! ! e experience has shown that it does not take place completely at normal temperature. The wool pretreated in this way is then processed in a known manner
EMI1.6

The operation of dyeing can, according to the present ancestor, also be carried out in such a way that the wool is boiled with acid with the addition of a chlorate or similar oxidizing agent.

PATENT CLAIMS:
1. A method for producing aniline black on wool, characterized in that the wool is boiled with acid, then impregnated with an aniline block mixture which contains an excess of chlorate or a similar oxidizing agent beyond the amount required to oxidize the aniline, and for development the paint is treated in the usual way.
