Chain coupler with a bracket that is rotatable on a chain link and serves as a coupling element.
The invention relates to a chain coupler which is shown in two embodiments in the drawing.
FIGS. I and 2 show one embodiment, FIGS. 3 and 4 show the second embodiment in side view and top view.
The end links of two chains to be connected are denoted by a and b. On the chain links 1 of the coupler, the brackets 2 a and 2 b are rotatably arranged in the longitudinal direction of the chain links 1. According to FIGS. 1 and 2, the bracket is S-shaped, according to FIGS. 3 and 4 it is U-shaped. The brackets: 2 a and 2 b are bent at their free ends in such a way that they protrude into the path of the chain links 1, the brackets being designed to be resilient so that when the chain links are pivoted in and out, the ends of the brackets protruding into their path must be pushed back in the direction of arrows A (Fig. i and 3).
In FIGS. I and 3, the path of the part of the chain link causing the displacement is shown in dashed lines and the chain link is shown in broken lines in the pivoted-out position. The arrangement described ensures that the chain link is held in the closed position by the part of the bracket projecting into its path, so that unwanted opening cannot take place.
The use of the coupler according to FIGS. I and 2 takes place in such a way that first the end link b is pulled over the latter with the bracket 2a pivoted out and brought into the vicinity of the pivot point of the chain link. The end link of the chain part a is then pulled in an inclined position through the chain link 7 from below and hung in the first curve of the bracket 2a, whereupon the chain link 1 is brought into the closed position.
The use of the coupler according to FIGS. 3 and 4 takes place in such a way that, after pivoting the bracket 2 b, the two end links b and a are pulled through the chain link 1 from below in an inclined position one after the other and hung on the bracket 2, whereupon the bracket 2 in the closed position is brought.
