Basic rangefinder with display element driven disproportionately to the measuring device.
In the case of basic rangefinders, each distance to an object observed in the instrument corresponds to a specific setting of the measuring device of the rangefinder, which

Wedge or is formed from a pair of mutually rotatable wedges, but which are also used by other organs, such as. B. a sliding lens o. The like. Can be formed. The movement that this measuring device experiences when the distance of the target object changes. is disproportionate to the change in distance. If, therefore, the display element of the range finder, namely the range finder graduation or the pointer assigned to it, is moved uniformly with the measuring device, then it is necessary to use gradations whose graduation marks are different for the same changes in distance.
Herein lies an inconvenience which has already been sought to avoid, but new inconveniences have been introduced by the means of accomplishing the end.
The present invention seeks to enable proportional distance division to be applied using tools which are convenient for both the overall rangefinder construction and its manipulation.
The invention relates in particular to a range finder with a range graduation drum arranged conaxially to the base tube. With rangefinders of this type, according to the invention, the possibility of using distance scales divided proportionally to the distances to be measured is achieved in that for the coupling of the display element, i. H. the distance graduation drum or its pointer, with the measuring device a cam drum also arranged conaxially to the base tube is used. The construction is particularly simple if the distance division is mounted on a rotatable drum which is formed in one piece with the clutch cam drum.
The invention is illustrated in the drawing in two exemplary embodiments, one time in FIGS. 1 and 2 for a range finder with a measuring wedge displaceable in the direction of the base tube and the other time in FIGS. 3 and 4 for a range finder with a pair of rotating wedges . The optical device of the rangefinder is only indicated schematically in each case.
In the following description, reference is made in particular only to those parts of the device to which the invention relates. The distance division is denoted by a in the drawing for both embodiments. The same is arranged conaxially to the base tube and formed in one piece with a cam drum b, the guide curve c of which transmits the movement of the distance graduation drum to the measuring device through the intermediary of a linearly guided push rod d or a similar transmission element. According to the illustration in FIGS. 1 and 2, the measuring device consists of one in the longitudinal direction of the
Base tube displaceable measuring wedge e, while according to the representation of FIGS. 3 and 4, a pair of rotary wedges el, e2 is provided.
In the case of the one longitudinally displaceable wedge e of FIGS. I and 2, the push rod d is firmly connected to the measuring wedge, while in the case of the embodiment according to FIGS. 3 and 4 with the measuring wedge pair, the push rod d is designed as a rack which is inserted into a gear f engages, which sits firmly on the shaft of a gear P, which in turn is in tooth engagement with gear rings gl, g2 of the rotary wedges el, e2. By means of a suitable slope for the guide curve c on the cam drum b, it can be achieved that when the range finder is set to objects at different distances, the scale drum a experiences the same angular rotations for the same changes in distance.
If, for certain purposes, the graduations of the scale drum in different areas should not run proportionally, but rather deviate from the proportionality of the distance in a certain way, this can also be achieved by appropriate selection of the slope of curve c on drum b.
