ERNST HAMMESFAHR IN FOCHE B. GRÄFRATH (SOLINGEN).

   Gespalten Ta8chenmesserfedern.

ERNST HAMMESFAHR IN FOCHE B. GRÄFRATH (SOLINGEN).

   Split pocket knife springs.

Fig. 1 shows a knife with split springs, such as have been made so far. However, the use of these springs is opposed to a very serious drawback, which consists in the fact that the spring slot a on the knife shaft remains open and absorbs all kinds of impurities in the clothes pocket, but especially the so-called pocket wool. If a sufficient quantity of these substances has now settled in the slot a, the feathers can no longer work in the prescribed manner; they then break, their resilience becomes weak, or the blades are difficult to open.

To eliminate this drawback, the springs are designed according to the type shown in FIG. 2; With this outward closure of the feather slot it has been possible to keep any contamination out of the slot a, as long as the alders of the booklet form a tight lateral closure.

FIG. 3 is an embodiment which serves the same purpose and differs slightly from FIG. 2 only in form.
