Kondensator.
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
PATENT-ANSPRÜCHE : i.

Capacitor.
The invention relates to improvements in steam condensers of the type described in Austrian Patent No. 47797. According to this patent specification, in order to achieve the cooling of the condensate in order to increase the suction effect of the air pump, the following device is made:
The deepest part of the condenser contains a closed or almost closed chamber which is traversed by a number of pipes through which the cooling water of the condenser flows, one part of the chamber being connected to a suction air pump system and another part of the chamber being provided with means through which the condensate is forced to flow through the chamber and then into the suction air pump system.
In addition, means are provided with the help of which the condensate is forced, if it is undesirable to cool the same as it flows through the chamber, to flow directly from the plate forming the upper end of the chamber into the suction air pump system.
In such arrangements, the cooling chamber is usually filled with condensate; when the condensate in the chamber stops flowing, the surface of the tubes in the chamber becomes ineffective.
The aim of the invention is now to increase the effectiveness of these tubes and therefore of the entire condenser.
For this purpose, the cooling chamber according to the invention is formed in the lower part of the condenser by a plate, on the upper surface of which means are provided through which the condensate must flow into a pipe which can be regulated by means of a valve and which branches off from the steam condensing chamber of the condenser, whereby the condensate is fed to a suction air pump system or a suction water pump without it flowing through the cooling chamber. The air outlet of the condensation chamber thus forms the air outlet of the cooling chamber, so that the latter, if the condensate is not to be cooled, can be emptied by means of a drainage pipe or the like, making it accessible to the steam to be condensed.
Corresponding openings are provided in the plate separating the cooling chamber from the condensation chamber, through which the condensate must flow into the cooling chamber and then through the pipe, which is regulated by partially or completely closing the valve, into the suction air pump system.
The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely FIG. I shows a cross section through the lower part of the capacitor, FIG. 2 shows a section along the line A-B of FIG. 1 and FIG. 3 shows a plan view of FIG.
The cooling chamber, which is formed in the lower part of the condenser a by a plate d extending over its entire width, is provided on one side with an outlet e, which is advantageously arranged at a distance from the air outlet c. The condensate is forced by the guide plates n arranged along the upper surface of the plate d on which it falls, to flow into the outlet e which communicates with the pipe of the air suction pump through the pipe f, the a Control valve h has.
Between the guide plates n and the side walls of the condenser
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
openings 1Jt are provided in the plate d so that the condensate, when the valve h is closed, is divided into individual streams and fed over the entire length of the condenser to the cooling chamber b.
In order to achieve better circulation within the cooling chamber b, one or more perforated P; atten o be provided. If the valve & is open and the condensate is fed uncooled to the air suction pump system through the pipe f, the cooling chamber is slowly emptied through the pipe p and the pipe surface in the same is accessible for steam to be condensed, the air from it through the opening r of the air suction pump system g is fed. If you want to cool the condensate, the valve is partially or completely closed and the condensate flows from the outlet e through the openings 1lt. A plate s is provided to prevent the condensate from flowing out into the air outlet c.
In order to bring about the final lowering of the temperature of the steam mixed with air, a plate k can be arranged in the horizontal direction above the air outlet. This plate is bent over and extends vertically downwards, whereby the distributed flow is directed over the low lying pipes in the steam condensing chamber.
The bent part of the plate k is tapered to allow the steam mixed with air to flow smoothly towards the air outlet.
In a modified embodiment, the pipe f can be connected to its own suction water pump, so that the plate s can be omitted and the plate k extends downwards to the plate d and is perforated accordingly for the purpose of penetrating the steam.
