<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
befestigt.
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to an additional lens for glasses, which can be detachably attached to the inner surface of the glasses with the aid of a suction device.
US 5, 266, 977 A describes such an additional lens, which is received all around in a lens holder in the form of a suction cup made of plastic, for example vinyl. The suction cup and lens can be sucked onto the inside or outside surface of a pair of glasses, which should make it possible to view nearby objects. In particular, the use of such an additional lens together with safety glasses for swimmers is mentioned, so that they can read the time on a stopwatch. In this known additional lens, the suction cup holder covers an area of the field of view that corresponds to a multiple of the usable field of view of the additional lens, so that the glasses is only poorly usable in their normal use. If the suction cup comes loose, e.g.
B. if his adhesive lip has not been cleaned well before use, the additional lens falls off the glasses and is naturally easily lost, not least because of its small size. Another disadvantage of the known additional lens is that it will hardly be possible for the user to put such a lens on a position that is optically and optically correct for the eyes and glasses, which leads to the problem of maintaining the correct pupil distance when using two additional lenses.
It is an object of the invention to provide an additional lens which less restrict the field of view of the glasses when used. In addition, an unintentional detachment of the additional lens from the spectacle lens is to be made more difficult. This object is achieved with an additional lens of the type mentioned at the outset, in which, according to the invention, the suction device is provided in the edge region of the additional lens in a restricted angular range, as a result of which the additional lens is thus attached to the lens of the lens Glasses can be put on so that a transition area free of parts of the suction device remains between the upper edge of the additional lens and spectacle lens. The additional lens according to the invention can expediently be on the lower area of glasses, in particular also sunglasses with the suction device on the lower edge of the additional lens

be put on
whereby - similar to known bifocal glasses - the transition area between the additional lens and the lens, thus between the areas of near vision and the
Far from being disturbed.
Appropriate developments of the additional lens are characterized in the dependent claims 2 to 10.
In order to ensure or facilitate the optically correct placement of an additional lens according to the invention on the glasses of glasses, the invention provides an auxiliary device for controlled placement, which is characterized by a frame with two receptacles located at a predetermined distance, in each of which an additional lens can be held detachable Useful developments of the auxiliary device are characterized in the dependent claims 12 to 18.
The invention and its further advantages are explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments which are illustrated in the drawing, in which: FIG. 1 shows a front view of an additional lens according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a side view of FIG. 1, FIG. 3 shows a side view, partially cut, an additional lens placed on an eyeglass lens according to the invention, FIG. 4 in a partial representation according to FIG. 1 an additional lens with a suction strip, FIG. 5 in a rear view, glasses with an auxiliary device placed thereon for the controlled placement of additional lenses, FIG. 6 in one Illustration like FIG. 5 a second embodiment of an auxiliary device and FIG. 7 in a schematic, perspective illustration a third embodiment of an auxiliary device.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1 to 3, suction cups 2 — three pieces in the example shown — are attached to the lower edge of an additional lens when used. Here, the suction cups 2 are formed in one piece with the stems 3, the ends of the stems 3 facing away from the suction cups being glued to the additional lens 1, for example. The suction cups 2 and the stems 3 are advantageously made of a suitable plastic, which is advantageously clear or translucent the additional lens 1 also consists of plastic, the stems 3, optionally also the suction cups 2, can be formed in one piece with the additional lens 1. The suction cups 2 form a suction device, with the aid of which the additional lens 1 can be attached to a spectacle lens 4,
3 shows an additional lens 1 on the inside of glasses 4 of glasses 5 (see FIGS. 5 and 6), for example sunglasses
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
attached. Due to the length of the stems 3, the angular position of the additional lens 1 with respect to the associated spectacle lens 4 can be brought to an optically suitable dimension, for example in order to prevent multiple reflections.
The suction cups 2 can also be attached to the additional lens 1 in such a way that they protrude radially beyond the edge thereof, so that the suction cups 2 lie outside the field of view of the lens 1 (not shown).
An alternative embodiment is shown schematically in FIG. 4. A narrow suction bar 6, which forms the suction device and is adapted to the edge curvature of the additional lens 1, is attached to the lower edge of the additional lens 1 during use. B glued on. The suction bar 6 is expediently divided into a plurality of suction chambers 7, in the present case four.
The suction bar 6 is also advantageously made of clear or translucent plastic material. The subdivision of the suction bar 6 into a plurality of suction chambers 7, in the same way as the use of a plurality of suction cups 2, provides increased security against unintentional detachment of the additional lens 1 from the spectacle lens 4. The additional lenses described above have in common that the suction device on the additional lens only in a limited angular range is arranged so that when the additional lens is correctly placed on the spectacle lens, a completely free transition area remains between the upper edge of the additional lens and the spectacle lens.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, this free transition area as the angular range a, based on the optical center of the additional glasses, is approximately a = 230, thus considerably more than 180 in order to facilitate the application of additional lenses 1 to the glasses 4 of glasses 5, and In order to bring the additional lenses into their optically correct position with respect to the spectacle lenses 4, the invention provides an auxiliary device 8, which is shown in FIG. 5 in a first exemplary embodiment.
The device 8 has a frame 9, which consists of two parts 91, 9r. These parts each have a receptacle 101, lOr for an additional lens 1. These receptacles 101, lOr serve to hold the additional lenses 1 detachably, which is realized in different ways In the present example, each receptacle 101, 10r has short slots 11, into which the stems 3 of the suction cups 2 can engage. The two parts 91, 9r can be displaced with respect to one another using an adjusting device, in the present case a screw spindle 12 (see arrow in Fig.
5), which also changes the distance between the receptacles 101, lOr and ultimately also the distance from additional lenses 1 inserted into the receptacles
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
In order to be able to align the auxiliary device 8 against the glasses 5, a centering means is provided, here two claws 13, which are assigned to the nose piece 5n of the glasses 5 shown in FIG
Example, two stops 14 are further arranged on the frame 9, which abut the lower edge of the spectacle frame in use
In order to attach the additional lenses to the glasses 4 of glasses 5, the user uses the
Auxiliary device 8, which was kept for example in a case together with the additional lenses 1. The user inserts the additional lenses 1 in the receptacles 101, 10 and sets the correct pupil distance using the screw spindle 12.
Then he brings the auxiliary device 8 into the position shown in FIG. 5 and then presses the additional lenses 1 with the
Suction cups 2 against the glasses 4, whereupon the auxiliary device 8 can be pulled down, the stems 3 of the suction cups 2 emerging from the slots 11 and the additional lenses 1 adhering to the glasses 4 in the correct position. It should be noted at this point that the additional lenses 1 also in other ways, e.g. B can be detachably held in the receptacles 101, 10 of the auxiliary device 8 with the aid of spring clips or the like. FIG. 6 shows an auxiliary device 8 'which essentially corresponds to the embodiment described above with regard to the receptacles.
In this simplified embodiment, however, the recordings are not mutually adjustable, i. H. the auxiliary device 8 ′ is adapted to a certain pupil distance. The auxiliary device 8 has, beneath the receptacles 101, 10, extensions 15 in which perforated screens 16 are formed. When purchasing an auxiliary device 8 ', a user can thereby select the right auxiliary device 8' for him in the shop from a number of different auxiliary devices, by looking through the pinhole 16 with both eyes and determining whether he is good at a distant object with both eyes can capture.
In this case, the distance between the pinhole diaphragms 16 corresponds to the pupil distance, the receptacles 101, lOr being arranged in such a position that the optical centers of the additional lenses 1 then correspond to the distance between the pinhole diaphragms 16. In the embodiment according to FIG. 6, the auxiliary device has 8'a centering nose 17 which is assigned to the base of the nose piece of the glasses 5. It should be particularly pointed out that even in one embodiment with an adjustable distance from two frame parts 91.9r according to FIG.
5 extensions 15 similar to FIG. 6 can be provided with perforated diaphragms 16, which gives the user of an adjustable auxiliary device 8 according to FIG. 5 the possibility of checking the correct pupil distance at any time. FIG. 7 schematically shows an auxiliary device 8 "for the controlled placement of additional lenses 1, which are held in receptacles 101, 1Or, the receptacles being
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
Ben spindle 12 are adjustable against each other. The auxiliary device 8 "thus essentially corresponds to an embodiment according to FIG. 5, but here brackets 18 are also articulated on the frame 9 on both sides.
These brackets can be used like the brackets of conventional glasses and it is clear that the design of an auxiliary device 8 "according to FIG. 7 can not only be used for attaching additional lenses 1 to glasses 5, but also that this auxiliary device 8" Emergency glasses can be used. It should also be noted that the auxiliary device 8, 8 ′ or 8 ″ can be used not only for attaching the additional lenses 1 to the glasses of a pair of glasses, but also for removing these additional lenses 1 Additional lenses 1 brought to the glasses 4 of the glasses 5 so that the stems 3 of the suction cups 2 get into the slots 11 of the receptacles 101, 10, whereupon the additional lenses can be lifted off the glasses 4 against the force of the suction cups 2
