   B. an Messing, grosser Mangel herrscht.

Method and device for rendering detonators safe, their metallic
Parts are to be reused.

The unusable, but still detonation-capable fuses for projectiles of all kinds are, on the one hand, a very considerable risk, especially when large quantities are stored, on the other hand, they often consist of metals, the recovery or reuse of which is all the more urgently necessary than these metals are currently being used z.

   B. of brass, there is a great shortage. Since there is considerable interest in the rapid recovery of the metal parts of such detonators, many attempts have been made to render the detonators harmless by taking them apart in order to remove the explosive devices from them. However, the problem arose that these measures, firstly, were extremely dangerous, since the construction of the detonators was often not known and then time-consuming, since the lack of suitable workers meant that it was not possible to work on a large scale.

Since it is not a question of recovering relatively worthless ignition charges, but only of the metal parts of the detonator, the procedure according to the invention is such that initially the explosive charges are destroyed by causing the detonation and then the metal parts are sent to the intended further processing,
The method for causing the detonation now had to meet the two conditions, as explained above, that on the one hand the detonation takes place safely and on the other hand large quantities could be handled with inexperienced workers as far as possible.

According to the results of tests, the detonation of the detonating bodies always occurs safely if the bodies fall freely onto a steel plate from a sufficient height. Any danger to workers from flying explosives is ruled out if the detonator falls into a sufficiently strong iron tube, the tube standing on the aforementioned metal plate. In order to enable the handling of large masses, the plate is arranged displaceably in such a way that after a detonation one
Detonator the plate can be pulled back so far that the detonator out of the tube
