Ring knife for cutting strips for paper yarn and the like.
In the case of the circular knives customary for cutting the strips for paper yarn production, the upper and lower knives must be resiliently pressed against one another in order to ensure a clean cut; for this purpose, the actual circular knife is displaceable on its hub in the axial direction and is pressed on one side by the pressure of an annular spring connected between the knife and the hub.
The design that has hitherto been customary for this purpose has deficiencies in that a larger number of screws are required to assemble the ring knife with its hub, which already make the original manufacture cumbersome and expensive, while on the other hand disassembling and reassembling the Knife becomes uncomfortable for the purpose of resharpening and the small screws are easily lost.
The innovation avoids these disadvantages associated with the original production and the respective dismantling of such ring knives with the previous design, in that the actual ring knife and its hub are provided with cutouts in the manner of the claw or toothed couplings known for engine systems. By inserting the teeth or claws of one part into the corresponding cutouts of the other part, the ring knife and the hub are pushed into one another, while a kind of bayonet lock is produced by rotating the two bodies against each other by half the pitch. This position is secured by a screw which then penetrates both parts together, without the axial mobility of one part being hindered in relation to the other.
Due to this arrangement, both the initial production of such a ring knife is extremely simple, as well as the respective dismantling and reassembly for the purpose of resharpening is simplified, since only a single screw has to be loosened.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown, namely FIGS. 1 and 2 show the knife hub in a view and side elevation, while FIG. 3 shows the actual ring knife drawn out by itself. In Figs. 4: and 5 is im
Cross-section and view reproduced the assembled device.
The knife hub a can be attached to the shaft of the cutting machine by means of the keyway b and has three claw-like projections c, which are uniformly spaced over the circumference. in corresponding sections e of the actual ring knife d! can be inserted.
By turning the two bodies a and d against each other by 600, the connection is established and then secured by a screw which is screwed into a hole 9 in the hub a
