Oesterreichische PATENTSCHRIFT ? 7849.
CLASSE 80 : THONWAREN-, STEIN- UND CEMENT-INDUSTRIE.
EMI1.1
EMI1.2
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Austrian PATENT LETTERING? 7849.
CLASSE 80: THONWARE, STONE AND CEMENT INDUSTRY.
EMI1.1
EMI1.2
The previously common treatment of artificial stones made of cement and lime with water glass, which is made to make the stones firm and durable, respectively. Being able to apply permanent painting did not lead to satisfactory results. because the water glass was either added to the stones during the mixture or the already dry artificial stone was soaked in cold water glass.
EMI1.3
Boiled in water glass for a shorter or longer period of time. The stones treated in this way not only become very strong and durable, but are also characterized by excellent grindability and polishability.
After the artificial stone has been boiled in a glass of water, it is roughly ground and then the holes, crevices, etc. that may appear during the grinding are smeared with the same mass from which the artificial stone was made, after which the stone is smeared
EMI1.4
and then the finished Gogenstand treated with water glass in the manner described.
Cooking in a water glass is sometimes not possible: in such cases, the finished artificial stone is roughly ground, then covered several times with a hot water glass. With this process, care must be taken that the water glass does not dry out during painting. Then the artificial stone can. be ground and polished equally fine.
Different paintings, inscriptions, etc.
EMI1.5
Cement or lime mixed and then the painting etc. made. After it has dried out, the entire painted surface is filled with cement or lime and, after it has dried out, treated with water glass in the manner described.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
After the water glass has dried out, the water glass remaining on the surface is washed off or sanded off, etc. B. made the majolica-like objects.
