EMI1.1
As is well known, it happens very often that when doors, windows or the like are slammed violently, the fingers are pinched and injured as a result of clumsy or careless handling. This risk is to be avoided by the invention in that the hinged edge of the door or window sash is made flexible and elastic in that the beveled edge of the door is covered with a strip of cloth which is held in tension by underlying springs. As a result, if a finger should be between it and the door frame when closing the door, the striking edge will yield without pinching the finger.
In the drawing, an exemplary embodiment of the device is shown, namely FIG. 1 shows in section an open door, while FIG. 2 shows the door closed.
The hard and rigid material of the door has been removed from the striking edge of the door 1, so that the material of the door can no longer lie tightly against the door frame. The normal shape of the striking edge of the door is according to the invention by an elastic material, i. H. a cloth strip 2, which is attached to the door leaf with the longitudinal sides and is held in tension by springs 3. Due to the springs inserted between the door edge and the cloth strip 2, the cloth is

the door joint is sealed as well as possible. The strip of cloth will give in to every pressure and at the same time return to its original shape through the springs as soon as the pressure ceases.
If, when the door or the like is closed, a finger is located between the striking edge and the door frame, the cloth strip 2 will yield resiliently and injuries caused by pinching the fingers are avoided.
