8-pin wire with resilient safety bracket.
A wide variety of cotter pins have already been proposed for securing split pins, including split pins with resilient safety clips. The majority of these split pins, apart from their more or less difficult production method, have the disadvantage that they are difficult to handle on the one hand and break easily on the other hand with frequent use or lose their spring tension.
These inconveniences can be remedied according to the invention in that the cotter pin is produced from a wire winding made from one piece, one end of which is designed as the actual cotter pin and the second end of which is designed as a hook that extends the support piece to be provided with the cotter pin as large as possible Surrounding area gripped.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated in the drawing. FIG. 1 shows the splint in a diagram, FIGS. 2 to 7 illustrate the manner in which the splint is used and the manner in which it is applied.

large hook is bent.
The handling and mode of operation of the split pin is as follows: The pin 1 of the split pin is first of all in front of the hole 4 with the securing clip 2 facing forward

Spring 3 is pushed laterally in front of the bolt 5 (Fig. 4 and 5). If the cotter pin is inserted sufficiently deep, the cotter pin is rotated 3 nm 9011 by grasping the spring part and the hook 2 thereby overcoming the suspension around the bolt 5

apparent manner and thus secures the split pin against loosening movement tn in the direction of arrow x.
The automatic reverse rotation of the split pin into its unsecured position is also prevented if the distance y of the split pin bore 4 from the bolt head is chosen to be greater than the radius r of the safety hook. In order to unlock the cotter pin safety, it is only necessary to force the safety clip with pressure in the direction of the arrow: over the head of the bolt until it reaches the surface of the bolt again; In this position, the split pin can easily be removed from the bolt again by simply grasping the spring part 3.
The cotter pin described is particularly suitable for all securing devices that occur in the vehicle and law enforcement system for machine parts suspended on bolts or fastened on bolts. The embodiment shown in the drawings shows the split pin in its use as a split pin for securing the heavy anti-skid chains for motor vehicle wheels fastened on bolts.
