Die Abscheider können anstatt in mehreren Gruppen auch in einer einzigen Reihe untereinander angeordnet werden. Es empfiehlt sich, das Erzgemisch zuerst durch'einen Abscheider beliebiger Art von den verhältnismässig stark magnetischen Theilchen zu befreien, da durch das Vorhandensein einer grösseren Menge solcher Theilchen in dem Material eine Verstopfung oder Verpackung der Spalte zwischen den beiden Polschneiden voranlasst werden könnte. Ferner hat sich gezeigt, dass die besten Ergebnisse erzielt wurden, wenn die Schneiden der Polo magnetisch gesättigt sind.
