Verfahren zur Darstellung von Oxalsäure.
Im Patente Nr. 73373 wurde ein Verfahren zur Darstellung von Oxalsäure aus Zucker und anderen Kohlehydraten beschrieben, darin bestehend, dass man auf Kohlehydrate bei Gegenwart von Salpetersäure und Katalysatoren Untersalpetersäure einwirken ! asst. Es hat sich nun gezeigt, dass bei dieser Oxydation von Kohlehydraten zu Oxalsäure die Gegenwart von Salpetersäure nicht notwendig ist. Man kann, bei sonstiger Einhaltung der Versuchsbedingungen, die dort verwendete, konzentrierte Salpetersäure, welche zum mindesten bei Beginn der Reaktion Oxydierend wirken wird, durch blosse Absorptionsmittel für die Untersalpetersäure wie verdünnte Salpetersäure, Wasser, Eisessig usw. ersetzen. man kann auch ganz ohne Lösungsmittel arbeiten.
