   <Desc/Clms Page number 1>

Fig. II dieselbe in Aufsicht veranschaulicht.

Clarification device for waste water, in which it is introduced below the level surface and divided into an upward and a downward flow of water by inclined guide walls.

In the case of clarifiers with a supply line for the waste water stream below the level. surface one has already used inclined guide walls for the purpose of separating the floating layer from the sinking layer, through which the water flow is divided into two partial flows, one of which is directed upwards and carries the floating matter with it, the other is directed downwards and which contains suspended matter. Due to the special arrangement of the guide walls, the present invention is intended to make the separation of the floating matter from the suspended matter even more favorable.

For this purpose, the baffle walls are wedge-shaped towards the water flow emerging horizontally from the supply channels and one baffle runs from this
 EMI1.1
in the middle of the device is divided into an upward-directed stream carrying the lighter materials and a second, downward-facing stream carrying the heavier materials.

The drawing shows an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely:
Fig. I is a section through the clarifier, while
Fig. II illustrates the same in plan.

The wastewater, which enters the sewage treatment plant through the two opposite supply channels a, flows in a horizontal direction against the guide walls b, which are arranged in or approximately in the middle of the device, in such a way that the
 EMI1.2
up into the room ('and the lower flow of water containing the heavy substances one direction downwards into the room à. In this way, an extraordinarily intensive swimming and stratification is produced in the simplest way. The discharge of the treated wastewater to the sewage treatment plant can be done in a known manner either, as shown in the drawing, by means of an immersion cylinder and overflow on all sides or in another suitable manner.

Since the guide walls face two supply channels a, a rhombic body is formed by the guide walls.
