 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

If you add finely powdered rosin to a mass made from glycerine gelatine, camphor and sulfur, as described in parent patent no. 57422. Copal or the like. Adds resins and resin mixtures, a beneficial effect is already evident on heating. If, however, the heating is continued for a longer period of time over the hitherto customary duration of at most 5 hours, for example 30 hours, one notices that the mass becomes homogeneous. The sulfur, camphor and resin particles that could be noticed before disappear and the toughness of the mass increases steadily. While they break briefly in the heat without the addition of resin, they are extremely tough even when hot and no longer crumble.

They show a certain plasticity, but this does not affect the high elasticity of the material.

This surprising effect of prolonged heating of the gelatin mass with resins is theoretically probably explained by the fact that the sulfur chemically increases when heated
