Description

 EMI1.1

For example, paper, celluloid, silk or the like can be used as the transparent carrier. If this material as such does not already have a sufficiently light tone and is highly light-reflecting, the front surface intended for the light-sensitive layer must also be prepared by applying a light, highly reflective color layer. It is natural that the insensitivity of the selected color to the emulsion layer and to the developer fluid should also be taken into account.

The back is covered with a red or yellow color that only lets through chemically inactive rays of light. For this purpose, cherry resin, for example, is used, which is tanned with formalin and colored with auromin and some red aniline dye. As already mentioned, this layer is insoluble in water and the photographic baths and therefore does not float during development. Roll film or flat sheets of paper can be produced in this way.

A graduation is attached to the back, for example printed in black lines on the red background. This graduation allows you to work in the darkroom without using a ruler, ruler or the like

On a photosensitive paper or fabric as described earlier, the picture is taken in the usual way, the picture is developed, fixed, washed and dried in order to obtain the negative. After this has been retouched if necessary. what can advantageously be done with charcoal or chalk, this negative can be illuminated in any way
