säure bzw. substituierten Schwefelsäuren bei nicht zu hoher Temperatur behandelt werden, so zwar, dass ganz oder doch im wesentlichen in Wasser lösliche Produkte entstehen. Zweck- mässig ist es hiebei, dem Reaktionsgemisch etwas Essigsäure zuzugeben.
Es hat sich nun herausgestellt, dass man auch technisch werrvolle gerbende Stoffe erhält, wenn man in dem oben gekennzeichneten Verfahren an Stelle der Phenole Di- bzw. Trioxybenzole und deren alkylierte Homologe, Di-bzw, Trioxynaphtaline und deren alkylierte Homologe verwendet.
Die Durchführung des Verfahrens erfolgt in der beim Stammpatfnte Nr. 69375 gekenn- zeichneten Art.

It has now been found that technically valuable tanning substances are also obtained if di- or trioxybenzenes and their alkylated homologs, di- or trioxynaphthalines and their alkylated homologs are used in the process characterized above in place of the phenols.
The procedure is carried out in the manner indicated in parent patent no. 69375.
