 EMI1.1

 EMI1.1

Disc unipolar machines are known, on the discs of which brushes lubricated by a contact liquid (e.g. mercury) slide and whose disc insulators protrude beyond the circumference of the discs.

According to the invention, such disk unipolar machines are perfected in that the insulation protruding over the disk peripheries is formed from V-odOt triangular rings, which are fastened with their broad part to the outer peripheries of the disks. These annular insulating members are, if a copper tape is placed around the circumference of each disc in a known manner, inserted into grooves that are attached to the
 EMI1.2
layer bridges the space between the adjacent panes and connects them electrically.

Fig. 1 shows a partial section through the armature of a Scheibon unipotar machine, as they are in British patents No. 16729 from 1906 and
No. 13330 from 1910 is explained. FIG. 2 is a view of part of the insulating rings and FIG. 3 shows part of the armature disks and their surrounding ring.

Each disc 17 made of steel (FIG. 1) is provided with a copper band 18 and is separated from the others by a disc 40 made of insulating material such as mica or the like, while between the copper bands 18 insulating rings 41 of V or triangular shape Cross-section are arranged. The rings 41 protrude over the circumference of the disk and are inserted with their broad part into grooves 42 in the side surfaces of the copper strips 18. The rings 41 have a sharp edge on the outer circumference, 80 so that no mercury can be deposited on the outer surfaces.
