sondern in dampfförmigem überhitzten Zustande einwirken.

but act in vaporous, overheated conditions. The steam penetrates all pores and cells of the wood and removes the soluble or volatile substances contained therein. The method has the advantage that it is possible to work with significantly smaller amounts of solvents, so that the costs for carrying out the method are also considerably reduced. Instead of working at ordinary pressures, the air can be removed from the container before starting to treat the wood with the vapors. It is also possible to treat the wood with the vapors at reduced pressure.
In order to prevent premature condensation of the vapors, the container and the wood located therein can also be heated in a suitable manner while the air is being sucked off and, if necessary, also during the treatment of the wood with the vapors.
The vapors loaded with the soluble constituents of the wood are cooled to recover the former, evaporated under vacuum, and then re-introduced into the process cycle.
