Als Salze werden Kupr-und Zinksulfat verwandt, und zwar für Streichgarn-und Kammgarnketten Kupfersulfat und für Baumwollkettcn Zinksulfat. Die Masse wird aladann in Tabletten (von 150 bis 200 g) gegossen. Das fertige Produkt kann auch in Pillenform komprimiert. oder in Pulverform gemahlen zur Verwendung gelangen. Gelangen die Tabletten zur Verwendung, so wird die Stärke (Kartofielmehl), mit Wasser vermischt, aufgerührt, und es werden dieser Brühe vor dem Kochen für je 100 eine oder mehrere der Tabletten unter Fortlassung aller anderen Zusätze beigegeben. Beim Kochen lösen sich die Tabletten auf.
Die bisher bekannten Übeistände beim Schlichten fallen vollständig weg, Faser und Farbe wird geschont, und die benutzten Fette oder Fettsäuren gelangen voll und ganz zur Wirkung, wodurch die Eigenschaft des gleichzeitigen Leimens (Schlichtens) und Glättens hervorgerufen wird.
