Description

Process for the production of Plimsoll shoes and similar shoes with leather soles.

The present invention relates to a method of making "Plimsoll" shoes; i. Shoes with the upper part of cloth or fabric with a rubber trim, or similar shoes with leather soles.

So far, Plimsoll sneakers have mostly been made with rubber trimmings and rubber soles, and the finished shoe has been vulcanized using dry heat. In the last Z? It has also produced Plimsoll shoes with leather soles, whereby the shoe was first completed without a sole and, after vulcanization, the leather sole was glued on using a cold rubber solution.

According to the present invention, the shoe is now completely finished in the usual way, the sole, which is expediently made of chromed leather, after removal of the entire fat content, is glued to the upper part of the shoe by means of a solution of high-grade para rubber and vulcanizing material. This makes it possible to expose the leather sole to the dry vulcanizing heat, so that the completely finished shoe can be brought into the vulcanizer and vulcanized in the same way as the Plimsoll shoes with Kantschuksole.

After the vulcanization process has ended, the shoe is removed from the last and the production is over.

This process gives a shoe that is more durable, since it is thoroughly homogeneous and its parts are vulcanized together.

Another advantage of this method is that the space required for manufacture is much smaller and the same factory can produce a much larger quantity of shoes than with the known method. According to the previously practiced procedure, the vulcanized part of the shoe had to remain on the last. until several layers of the adhesive had been applied and evaporated, which of course required a relatively large space for manufacture and a much larger number of strips.
