Rivet cover for padlocks and the like.
On padlocks there is already a casing or cladding for the housing shells, which serves to cover the rivet heads of the bolts holding the lock housing together and thus to obtain a smooth outer surface of the lock that has no protruding parts.
With this rivet cladding, however, the cover plates are permanently held on the housing shells of the fully assembled lock by a rotary slide valve that can be moved using a special key. On the one hand, this is a complicated and costly type of fastening which makes the manufacturing price of such a padlock very expensive and therefore out of the question for mass production; on the other hand, this rivet cladding has the disadvantage that it is impossible to disassemble and clean the lock.
The present invention now relates to a rivet cover for padlocks

Difficulty being applied to the lock housing and, if necessary, can be removed again, being secured in the position of use by a clamp and the like penetrating the lock housing.
In the drawing, a padlock designed according to the invention is shown for example, namely FIG. 1 is a front view, FIG. 2 is a section along the line A-B in FIG.
In this padlock, the casing or cladding of the lock housing b held together by the rivets a consists of a cladding plate 2 which is arranged on the front and rear of the lock and which is thus separated at its lower edge.

arises.
According to the position and size of these approaches 3, each shell of the housing is provided with a slot-like opening 4 into which the associated cladding panel 2 is hooked with its angular extension 3 in the working position.
A clamp is used to hold the upper edges of the cladding panels 2 in place. 5. which penetrates the housing b in its entire width from the front to the rear, namely this penetration takes place in the two opposing openings 6 of the housing shells. Before the clamp 5 is used, it expediently has the angular shape indicated by dash-dotted lines in FIG. 2, so that it

the adjacent cladding panel 2 lies flat, while its free end peeks out of the opposite push-through opening 6, where it is bent in the direction of the arrow drawn in FIG. 2 to form a leg similar to the leg on the left.
In this way, the legs partially overlap the cladding panels 2 at the upper edge and press them firmly onto the lock housing b.
