B. bei den bekannten Verfahren durch Erhitzen von Terpentinöl (Pin'en). Das ist um so überraschender, als man wegen des verschiedenen Verhaltens der Terpenkohlenwasserstoffe von vornherein nicht wissen konnte, ob Isopren sich überhaupt aus Nopinen gewinnen lassen würde.
Beispiele :
1. 100 Gewichtsteile Nopinen werden durch em eisernes Rohr geleitet, das auf etwa 500 bis 5200 C erhitzt ist. In der gekühlten Vorlage sammelt sich neben anderen höher siedenden Produkten das Isopren an, das durch fraktionierte Destillation leicht rein gewonnen werden kann. Die Menge der erhaltenen Isoprenfraktion (Siedepunkt 32 bis 400 C) beträgt etwa 10%.
2.100 Gewichtsteile Nopinen werden in Dampfform über ein elektrisch geheiztes Drahtnetz langsam geleitet. Kondensation der Dämpfe und Aufarbeitung des Reaktionsproduktes erfolgt nach Beispiel I Die Ausbeute beträgt hiebei 20%.
