EMI1.1

EMI1.1
In German patent specification No. 929572 it is described that oxygen-rich salts can be obtained if superoxide is allowed to act on acids or esters in complete absence of solvents.
The reworking of this process has shown that in this way, however, solid substances can initially be obtained which have active oxygen; but it also turned out that the oxygen content is nowhere near as high as it is stated in this German patent specification. It was also shown that the shelf life of these preparations is extremely limited in terms of their active oxygen content. The loss of oxygen begins in the first few hours with some preparations and after a few days with some there is either no oxygen at all or only a very small amount.
It has now been found that there is another route to oxygen-rich salts in solid form. This process consists in not allowing the acidic substances in question to act on superoxides, but in reacting the salts of the inorganic acids or the derivatives derived therefrom with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of a solvent, advantageously in such a way that dissolves the salts in strong water-based superoxide and now causes the new products to separate out through concentration or precipitation. In this way, active oxygen-containing salts are obtained which, in contrast to the products of patent specification No. 229572, have a high content of active oxygen and which are distinguished by their resistance.
The salts of phosphoric and sulphonic acids in particular provide useful compounds with hydrogen peroxide.
Examples:
1. 4 parts by weight of disodium phosphate (Na. HPO) were dissolved in 6'7 parts by weight of 30% strength hydrogen peroxide. After filtering at 200 im
Vacuum brought to dryness. A product was obtained which, in the dry state, had a hydrogen peroxide content of 19,050 / 0,
2. 9 parts by weight of sodium benzenesulfonate (dried) were dissolved in 28 parts by weight of 30% strength hydrogen peroxide. After filtering, the solution was taken to dryness in vacuo at ordinary temperature. The dry preparation contained 19% hydrogen peroxide.
