Lamp base for electric light bulbs.

The metal bases (lamp bases) for incandescent lamps with an edge isolated from the contact sleeve for receiving the glass body of the lamp have the disadvantage for their practical use that their own weight is disproportionately large due to the insulation. In addition to the increased freight charges, this fact makes itself unpleasantly noticeable in the stronger vibrations caused by the heavy weight, especially with metal filament lamps, due to increased breakage. The previous isolation of the edge by interposing a glass body, which has to be squeezed in when it is warm, causes a large loss of defective pieces in the manufacture of such bases.

The subject of the invention now forms a lamp base for electric incandescent lamps, in which the disadvantages mentioned are avoided in that the contact and edge sleeves are not directly connected to one another by insulating material, but with the interposition of insulating material that can be pressed when cold.

The drawing shows two exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention, each in vertical section. According to FIG. 1, the contact sleeve a, which is provided with a round thread and formed in a known manner on the upper part, is provided at its lower, open end with two flanges b, c arranged closely one above the other. Between the same is a double, made of electrically insulating material, for. B. hard paper, rubber, etc., existing ring d, in which the upper, inwardly protruding edge of a serving to accommodate the glass bulb edge sleeve e is clamped, such that the latter is firmly connected to the contact sleeve with the interposition of the insulating ring d.

Instead of a double ring, the insulation can consist of two or more rings, e.g. B. of two cardboard rings and a rubber ring resting on the contact sleeve, one or both cardboard rings overlapping.

In the embodiment of the subject matter of the invention shown in FIG. 2, the lower, open end of the contact sleeve a ', which is also provided with a bark thread, is pushed into the upper, upwardly projecting edge of an edge sleeve e' and is firmly connected to it by a bead f, with contact between -and randhuls a ring d 'pinched iat. The same exists as in Flog. 1 the ring d, for the purpose of electrical insulation of the contact and edge sleeves, from the electrically insulating material that can be pressed or bent in the cold state, e.g. cardboard.

PATENT CLAIMS: 1. Lamp base for electric incandescent lamps with mutually insulated contact and edge sleeves, characterized in that one of the two last-mentioned parts is connected to the Rsd of the other part, which is attached to it, with the interposition of insulating material that can be pressed when cold.
