Description

Process for colored etching of indigo and others which can be etched by reducing agents
Dyeings with vat dyes,
It is known that vat dyes, in particular indanthrene and algol dyes, can be fixed on the fiber by printing them mixed with iron salts and tin salts, with or without the addition of an organic acid, onto the fiber and then by passing them into sodium hydroxide for development brings. It is also known that most indanthrene and algol dyeings with sulfoxylates in combination with certain ammonium compounds containing one or more alkaryl radicals (Rongalit CL) can be etched to a greater or lesser degree of perfection. It is also known that indigo dyeings can be etched smoothly using the sulfoxylates mentioned above (Rongalit CL).
It therefore had to be noticed that by mixing an indigo etching dye with Rongalit CL, in addition to the usual additives such as anthraquinone, zinc oxide, iron salts and tin salts and a vat dye can be used. Not only to etch the indigo smoothly at the printed areas, but also to put the added vat dye in place of the indigo by means of a lye passage switched on after steaming.
For example, if you print on indigo blue goods:
EMI1.1
20 minutes in hot caustic soda solution of 20 "He, washes and acidifies in dilute, hot sulfuric acid of 2o Be, so you will get light blue etchings on a dark blue ground. In exactly the same way it works with all indanthrene, algol and helindone dyes, briefly with In place of iron and tin salts, other reducing agents in an alkaline solution can be used, for example tin oxide, arsenic trisulfide, glucose, dextrin and others.
Of course, the process is not only suitable for etching indigo goods but also for all colorations that can be etched with Rongalites.
