In dem Masse, als die Zugstärke im Feuerraum wächst, werden sich die Klappen 23, 24 um ihre Drehzapfen 25 mehr oder minder heben, so dass die Zusatzluft durch die geöffneten Klappen in die Luftleitungen 19, 20 eintreten kann, in welchen sie an den erhitzten Rippen 21, 22 vor-. gewärmt wird. Die in den Feuerraum eintretende, vorgewärmte Zusatzluft wird vom Dampf, schleier beherrscht ; sie streicht unterhalb demselben hin und wird durch ihn gezwungen, in innige Berührung mit den noch unverbrannten Gasen zu treten, wodurch die Verbrennung der Kohlenoxydgase zu Kohlensäure, des Wasserstoffes zu Wasser, des OB4 zu COg und B20 U8W. begünstig wird.
Je nachdem das Ventil 32 mehr oder minder geöffnet wird, wird die Stärke des Dampfschleiers sowie die Menge der angesaugten Luft verändert.

In der Luftleitung 39 ist wieder das als Klappe ausgebildete Rückschlagventil 37 vorgesehen, welches um Zapfen 38 schwingbar gelagert ist. Über dem Feuertürloch ist die mit der Dampfleitung 30 in Verbindung stehende Dampfdüse 40 angeordnet, welche in den Feuerraum einmündet und zur Bildung des Dampfschleiers dient. Die Mittellinie der Dampfdüse 40 liegt mit der Mitte der Luftleitung 39 angenähert in einer senkrechten Ebene. Die Wirkungsweise dieser zweiten Ausführung- form ist ähnlich derjenigen des zuerst beschriebenen Beispieles.
Auch hier wird die die Luftleitung 39 passierende, an den Rippen 36 vorgewärmte Zusatzluft unterhalb des Dampfschleiers durch den Feuerraum streichen, wodurch eine innige Mischung der Zusatzluft mit den Verbrennungsgasen erzielt wird.
