Description

 EMI1.1

<tb>
<tb> Schwefel....... <SEP> 66%
<tb> Glaspulver..... <SEP> 100/0
<tb> Amorpher <SEP> Phosphor.. <SEP> 250/0
<tb>

 EMI1.2

  Process for making matches.

   The present invention relates to a process for the production of Zündhöizern, according to which the mass composing the flammable heads does not contain any animal or vegetable binding agents, such as gelatin, glue, dextrin, casein, tragacanth, Senegal gum, etc., by adding a mineral substance, e.g. B. sulfur or any other substance that has similar properties appears replaced.

  The following can apply as a typical composition of the ignition compound according to the present invention:
 EMI1.1

<tb>
<tb> sulfur ....... <SEP> 66%
<tb> glass powder ..... <SEP> 100/0
<tb> Amorphous <SEP> phosphor .. <SEP> 250/0
<tb>

 EMI1.2
 which the mass should be determined suffer changes. The glass powder and the amorphous phosphorus can also be replaced by other substances which are capable of giving the same results.

   The specified mass, the application of which takes place in the heat at 140 to 1600 C, can be used both to produce so-called safety matches, which require a special friction surface, as well as to those of the usual matches, which can be ignited by friction on any surface.

   The process forming the subject matter of the invention offers the following advantages: The heads of the matches produced from the specified composition are completely insoluble in water, even at temperatures which noticeably exceed 1000.degree. They can therefore be stored for a very long time without spoiling, even in places that are humid. The immediate drying of the heads makes any special drying operation superfluous and allows the sticks to be filled into boxes immediately after the wooden sticks have been dipped. The use of steam heating devices on almost
150 "heated mixture of sulfur and amorphous phosphorus poses no danger.

   The present process can be used for the production of matches of all types,
