  Dachpappe.

  Roofing felt.

It is known that the usual roofing felts soaked with rubber varnish become brittle when stored for a long time. According to the invention, this disadvantage is remedied by adding stearic pitch to the liautschuk varnish. The process is as follows:
In an open kettle, linseed oil is heated to approx. 1000 ° C., after which approx. 4 parts by weight of rubber waste per 5 parts by weight of linseed oil are introduced in portions and with constant stirring.

At the same time, an amount by weight of stearin pitch is melted in the impregnation pan, which is the same or slightly larger than the amount of the prepared chewy cake, and the hot rubber solution is then added in portions to the nutty stearin pitch while stirring constantly. The result is a completely homogeneous, dense mass with which the cardboard is impregnated in the usual way.
