Drucktinte.

Printing ink.
The present invention relates to a process for the production of printing ink which differs significantly and advantageously from the known inks in that it can be produced very cheaply with very good properties.
It has been found that liquid tar of a certain consistency, e.g. B. the tar, which is obtained from coal and mineral oil or from wood, peat and similar vegetable substances and which has a certain resin content, is an excellent carrier for a pigment made of anthracite or fire slate or a mixture of both, and that on in this way an ink can be produced which has all the characteristic properties of a printing ink.
Accordingly, the present invention resides in the use of tar or tar-like bodies of suitable consistency and blending with powdered fire slate or charcoal which readily mixes with the tar or tar-like bodies to give an ink of suitable consistency.
The proportions of the pulverized material to the tar depend on the proportion of pitch or pitch-like material which is contained in the tar, and the more pitch there is, the less pigment is needed.
The tar material, which comes from coke ovens, gas retorts, water gas systems, oil gas systems, wood distillation and the like, has a specific gravity between 0'945 and 1'22 and the pitch from any of the products mentioned, which is diluted to a suitable consistency, is useful for the present purpose. Under special conditions, natural, liquid bitumen and residues from the petroleum refinery, which contain pitch and have a specific gravity of 0.925 upwards, can be used if a drying agent is mixed with it or the printing paper used is such that it is oily Can absorb components.
It has now been found in practice that a coal tar, which has a specific gravity of about 1'16 and contains about 400/0 hard pitch, can be mixed with the same weight of powdered anthracite coal, and that with sufficient thorough mixing an excellent ink for ordinary hand printing is produced at a price that is far below the price of ordinary printing ink as it is now on the market.
Of course, when using the new printing ink, use can be made of the same toning and drying agents as with the usual printing inks.
PATENT CLAIMS:
