<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>
<Desc/Clms Page number 4>
<Desc/Clms Page number 5>

The invention relates to a profile system for the cross-sectional formation of flat keys and of key channels in locking cylinders, in particular for the construction of locking systems, with ribs or grooves on the flat sides of the key bit or the key channel, which act as variation profile elements and as Guide profile elements are provided.
The protection of life, privacy and property have top priority. This is why a lock and a key are particularly important. In locking systems, access areas are defined and implemented by assigning each system key to one or more locks. This assignment or the exclusion of key and lock with regard to the locking function is achieved in locking systems on the basis of locking cylinders with flat keys by the cross-sectional profile of the key and the cross-section of the key channel. The key only fits into the lock if the contour of a key channel cross-section corresponds exactly to or envelops a flat key cross-section.
As soon as the contour of the flat key cross section intersects that of the key channel cross section, the key has no locking authorization with regard to the aforementioned locking cylinder.
Of course, this assignment between the key and the locking cylinder via the profile - ie the cross section of the key, in particular the flat key and the key channel of the locking cylinder - also applies to the single cylinder, which is not directly part of a locking system.
It corresponds to the need for security if a key cannot be copied easily. A replacement key can be obtained from the original manufacturer from the original manufacturer using security certificates and strict identity checks. If key blanks are commercially available, a key service with a copy milling device could easily produce a replacement key by producing teeth on the key face. If a copy milling device is also able to scan a cross-sectional profile on the flat sides of an original key and appropriate milling tools are available, a replacement key can also be machined from a metal plate.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
can be worked out in a distinctive way.
So if the production of replacement keys for locked key profiles was not possible due to the lack of a corresponding blank due to the restriction of free access to the market, the technical possibilities for key services are already available today, copies of a key both the teeth as well as the profile. A key profile is scanned mechanically or optically from the side. The result of this lateral scanning is followed by the grooving or the advancement of one or more milling cutters for producing U-shaped, V-shaped or rectangular-shaped grooves. By tilting the key blank, grooves can also be inclined to the center line of the profile cross-section, e.g. B. as undercut grooves.
The invention aims to design a profile system for the cross-sectional formation of flat keys and key channels in locking cylinders in such a way that it is not possible to work out the profile in one operation with a modern key profile milling device, as could be used in key services is. This is achieved in that at least one groove or rib, in particular of the guide profile, starts from at least one further groove or rib as a branch groove or rib and that the penetration directions of the groove and branch groove or the angular positions of the rib and branch differ are and diverge by 60, for example. By scanning the profile grooves of an original key from the side, the branch groove is only incompletely recorded.
It would have to be produced by reclamping the blank and re-scanning the original. The reclamping for an angular position of the center line of the profile groove deviating from the original penetration direction of a profile groove inevitably leads to lateral displacements, so that a branching groove or a further groove extending laterally from a groove can neither be dimensionally and functionally nor economically produced. In practice, this is only possible in the lock factory, which has profile broaching machines and large milling centers, so that
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
Transformer errors and error-causing separate work steps with new measurements are not necessary.
The production of the keyway profile equates to the production of branch grooves that start from the inside of a groove and cause the groove to fork. It is advantageous if the branch groove or branches and the branch rib or branch ribs start from a side flank or the side flanks of the groove or the rib. This results in a forking of the grooves in two or more directions. In view of a guarantee that this branch groove or grooves should always be present (also with the most subordinate key) in locking systems for security reasons, it is expedient if the groove and branch groove or
Rib and branch rib are provided as guide profile elements. The guide profile is designed for each key within a locking system, so that the desired security is in any case given. It is advantageous if the guide profile elements are provided as overlapping profile elements opposing each other from the two key flat sides or key channel side walls with at least one branch groove on a groove or branch rib on a rib of the guide profile to produce a higher-level profile by grinding out the branch groove, this would cause a large weakening of the entire cross-section and in many cases also the cross-section falling apart.
There are thus limits to the production of a replacement key with the usual means, which preclude unfair key copying. It should be noted that the production of a key that does not correspond to the original is to be regarded as the production of a burglary tool and that the locking system is thereby invalidated. It is expedient in terms of production technology or for safety reasons if the groove width of the branch groove or grooves is approximately one third of the length of the flank or groove base of the groove from which the branch groove originates.
An embodiment is characterized in that at least two branch grooves from the bottom of the groove, in particular a rectangular
<Desc / Clms Page number 4>
or parallelogram-shaped groove and their insertion directions diverge. This results in a fork at the bottom of the groove, which starts, for example, from the transition area of the side flanks to the bottom of the groove.
Exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the drawings. 1 to 4 show key cross sections, FIG. 5 shows a key channel cross section.
In the cross section of the key bit, a key 1 of a locking system has an overlapped guide profile with grooves 2, 3 approximately in its longitudinal center, each of which protrudes beyond the profile center line. Such a design fulfills the task of a guide profile, that is to say the positioning of the key in the key channel and covers the core pins on the head side, thus serves to ensure that the locking cylinder is safe to scan. A branch groove 4 starts from a side flank of the groove 2 as a triangular groove. The penetration direction (arrow 5) for producing the groove 2 and the penetration direction (arrow 6) of the branch groove 4 are different. This means that two work steps and one reclamping of the blank are required for the changed machining direction.
FIG. 2 shows a key 7 and additionally a rectangular branch groove 8 in the groove 3 thereof. The corresponding key channel 9 is shown in FIG. 5: has ribs 2 'and 3' and branch ribs 4 'and 8'. A key according to FIG. 1 could not be inserted into the key channel 9 due to the lack of a branch groove 8.
If a key service had an original key 7 according to FIG. 2 for the production of a replacement key, then only the grooves 2 and 3 could be formed in one insertion direction. If you tried to deepen the grooves 2 and 3 so that they include the branch grooves 4 and 8, the key 7 would break apart. The contours of a deeper penetration are shown in broken lines in FIG. 2.
In Fig. 3 a key 10 is shown, which is equipped with grooves 2 and 3 and branch groove 4 in addition to a guide profile according to FIG. 1, grooves 11, 12 and 13, 13 'and 14, 14' as a variation profile. An example of a variation system is given in the groove 11.
<Desc / Clms Page number 5>
A key 15 is shown in FIG. 4, which comprises the grooves 2, 3 and the branch groove 4 as the guide profile. In the groove 16, which, like all the other grooves that are not marked, belongs to the variation profile, a branch groove 17 is provided as part of the variation profile, which starts from a side flank with a different piercing direction of the milling cutter relative to the groove 16. This branch groove 17 has a groove base which is inclined to the plane of the side flank of the groove 15. This makes reworking a key even more difficult. This means that not only the profile elements of the guide profile, but also those of the variation profile can be designed with branch grooves on the side flanks or on the groove base (eg for rectangular grooves or trapezoid grooves).
