Abstract
In the transmission according to the invention, a rotating crank (1) sets a lever (3) in a pendulum motion via a coupling rod (2). A rope (4) is fed, single or multiple, from the lever (3) or from a roller (5) on the lever to a deflection roller (6) and from there on to a spool (7). Depending on the position of the deflection pulley (6), the rope section between the oscillating lever (3) and the deflection pulley (6) is lengthened to a greater or lesser extent and then shortened again in gear operation. By lengthening the rope (4), the spool (7) is set in rotation and transmits its rotational movement to the drive wheel of the bicycle via a freewheel. The spool (7) also has a return spring, with the help of which the periodically shortening rope (4) rolls up again. The transmission ratio of the gear unit is set by changing the position of the pulley (6).
