Derartige Zäune sind zwar in Hinblick auf den Kostenaufwand vergleichsweise sparsam, sie befriedigen jedoch in ästhetischer Hinsicht jedoch kaum, sondern umfrieden das vorgesehene Gelände letztlich nur mit einem relativ eintönigen Drahtgitter. Daher werden unter dem Aspekt der Kostenersparnis bei Abwägung zwischen Funktionalität und Asthetik sehr oft die Drahtgitterzäune als Bausätze bevorzugt, zumal Bausätze für Holzzäune oder zumindest Zäune mit einem entsprechend hohen Holzanteil im absperrenden Zaunfeld praktisch nicht zur Verfügung stehen.
