Pyrophore Legierungen.

Pyrophoric alloys.
The invention relates to the production of alloys from manganese and antimony with pyrophoric properties.
These alloys have not yet been used in practice. Alloys of manganese and antimony are known, however, only the alloys with more than 10% antimony content are suitable for the present purpose, the manganese content likewise not being less than about 10%. The spark formation is such that when rubbing or scratching, apart from sparks, a kind of longer jet flame is created, whereby e. wr enables the distance between the grater and the flame to be large enough so that the naturally hardened grinder is protected and cannot be softened by the flame as it was before.
Another advantage is that the present alloys prove to be air-resistant.
The alloys can contain additions of other metals which are suitable for improving the structure of the metal, since the same is crystalline and brittle. For example, soft, easily combustible metals such as aluminum and magnesium are recommended for this purpose. In order to achieve a harder alloy, additions of harder metals are recommended, which do not significantly affect the pyrophoric properties, e.g. H. Chromium or Titanium. The addition of the other metals should not exceed about 30%, but is much better kept within lower limits.
