   Die Wirkungsweise der Vorrichtung ist folgende :
Nachdem der Hutstumpen auf den Kegel   aufgespannt   ist, werden die Bürsten 4 zum Anliegen an den Hutstumpen gebracht. Hierauf werden der Kegel 1 und die Bürsten 4 in entgegengesetzter Richtung in drehende Bewegung versetzt und gleichzeitig dem Kegel eine Auf-und
Abbewegung erteilt. 



   Nach einiger Zeit wird die Drehrichtung des Tellers 7 und des   Kegels J ! umgekehrt, so   dass die Bearbeitung des Hutstumpens in entgegengesetzt verlaufenden Spiralen bewirkt wird. 



   Die Anfeuchtung des Stumpens während der Arbeit kann von einem oberhalb des Maschinengestelles angeordneten   Flussigkeitsbehälter   ausgehen, von welchem eine Leitung beispielsweise durch die als Hohlwelle ausgebildete Tellerwelle 8 zum Hutstumpen führt. Unterhalb des Hut-
