<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Device for cleaning rough gas preheaters.
The known flue gas preheaters, in which the feed water circulates in vertical, smooth or ribbed heating pipes and flue gases that are brushed from the outside are preheated through these pipes, require frequent cleaning of the heating pipes from the soot that has built up in order to prevent a reduction in the effect of the preheater. For this purpose, it has been proposed to introduce brushes through the bottom of the distributor body between the heating pipes, which are screwed to a common distributor body in larger numbers, and brushes are rotated to strip off the soot. The pipes were also blown off with steam, and for this purpose a steam pipe, open at its lower end, was inserted between the heating pipes.
But this work was cumbersome. since each preheater element consists of a large number of heating tubes; In addition, much heat was lost when the steam pipe was inserted and withdrawn, mainly through the entry of cold air. The workers also easily burned their hands on the hot pipes, especially when the exhaust pipe system became larger and accordingly heavier.
The invention now relates to a device that remedies the above-mentioned inconveniences by enabling the rapid cleaning of a large number of heating pipes at the same time and, by automatically closing the pipe spaces to the outside, the ingress of cold air to the circulating flue gases and the loss of heat prevented. Only one worker is required to operate the facility.
The device consists essentially of a trolley that is horizontally displaceable on a carrier and that has a vertical guide frame for a number of trolleys that can be raised and lowered in the same. vertical, rigidly connected, steam pipes that carry by means of a common
Articulated pipe system or a flexible metal hose are connected to the steam line. In the bottom of the distribution body, funnel-shaped insertion openings for the perforated steam pipes are provided between the heating pipes, which are kept closed by flaps under spring or weight pressure. When the steam pipes are lowered, they open the flaps.
The drawing illustrates the cleaning device arranged above a finned tube flue gas preheater in FIG. 1 in a side view and in FIG. 2 in a front view.
A trolley 2 can be displaced on a carrier 1, from which a rigid frame 3 hangs down, which, together with the trolley, by means of the chain 5 suspended over a wheel 4, is positioned horizontally
Direction can be transported. A system of rigidly connected vertical steam pipes 6 is arranged on the frame so that it can be pushed up and down. The one at her bottom

provided with a shut-off valve 13 and a drainage valve 14. The pipes 6, 7, 8 hang on a cable 15 which is guided over the roller 16. and are balanced by a counterweight 17. A stop 20 fixes the correct central position of the blow-out apparatus above the flue gas preheater element.
The flue gas preheater has the usual equipment. In the bottom of the distribution body a. on which the vertical heating tubes b, advantageously finned tubes, are screwed. funnel-shaped insertion openings c are provided between the latter, which are covered by flaps d which open inward and are kept closed under spring or weight pressure.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
When the cleaning device is used, the same is adjusted via the first element of the preheater so that the steam pipes 6 come to stand over one of the rows of insertion openings c. As soon as the steam pipes 6 have been lowered through the openings c and their lower perforated ends hit the lower connecting parts of the heating pipes, the condensation water in the steam line is drained through the tap J4 and the shut-off valve 13 is then opened. The steam jets flowing out of the tubes 6 blow the soot off the finned tubes. By alternately pulling chains 19 and 18, the pipe system 6 is slowly moved up and down in order to clean the heating pipes of soot along their entire length.
The flow of steam is then blocked, the pipe system 6 is lifted with the simultaneous automatic closure of the insertion openings of this row and the cleaning device is set over the next row of insertion openings by pulling on the chain 5.
