EMI1.1

EMI1.1
It is known to carry out the gas preparation in standing retorts using high temperatures so that the retorts are completely, i.e. H. as far as they are in the fire, filled with coal. This method, however, has the major disadvantage that the temperature on the surface of the furnace, respectively. on the loading tray arranged for loading the retorts

are exposed. Furthermore, a lot of heat is lost unused in this process through the radiation upwards, which radiation is conveyed on the one hand by the upper masonry and on the other hand by the gas outlet pipes mounted on the furnace and horizontally adjoining the upper mouthpieces.
For example, measurements have shown that the temperature of the gas generated in the outlet pipes is still around 30 ° C. shortly before it enters the tar trap. The cause of this great heat radiation of the upper masonry and the high temperature is undoubtedly that the retorts, which are completely filled with coal, are surrounded by hot fire gases up to the upper furnace cover.
The present invention is intended to remedy the abuses described and
EMI1.3
This is the procedure for example when carrying out the method. that the uppermost part of the retort, which is not completely filled with coals, is cooled by an air stream, while the latter is itself preheated. The retort is expediently only filled with coal to the extent that it is. that there is still a draft above the coal, which is to be kept at such a temperature that the generated gas cannot absorb any further heat leading to the decomposition of the gas when it passes through this part, so that the draft is kept at a temperature that approximates corresponds to the temperature of the gas leaving the coal.
This results in a completely uniform coking, while when the retort is completely full, the uppermost parts of the coal are often only imperfectly coked with the formation of greasy products. In addition, this prevents the

too much heat is withdrawn and this arrangement ultimately makes you too harsh
