If a smaller amount of heating steam is used over a longer period of time, a number of inlet elements can be closed off at the turbine. In a known manner, a safety regulator can also be provided which shuts off the live steam flowing in as soon as the turbine exceeds a certain speed.
The actuation of the steam regulating organs by the speed regulator can be done either directly or by means of a control fluid with auxiliary machine or by electrical means or in some way.
The drawing shows an embodiment. a is the turbine, b the dynamo machine coupled with it. The live steam flows to the turbine a through the pipe o as soon as the main inlet element shown above is open. The steam consumed by the turbine a flows through the pipes e and o to the heating system. The speed controller t influences the throttle element i by means of the linkage g and h in such a way that it reduces the outflow cross-section of the pipe e and thereby increases the counterpressure prevailing in the pipe e when the turbine a runs faster as a result of relief. The throttle element i, however, is such that it is never able to completely close the cross section of the exhaust line e.
If the turbine has experienced a certain relief and has thus exceeded a certain number of revolutions, the regulator y has raised itself so far that it lifts the rod k by means of the lever arm g and thereby gradually closes the live steam supply line c by means of the throttle element l from the turbine. Either shortly before or at the same moment or only later, the rod k acts on the rotary valve n built into the bypass pipe m and opens the bypass line m, while the live steam line c is further throttled by the throttle element l with respect to the steam turbine a.
In this way, throttled steam can flow from line c to heating steam line o without having to flow through the turbine and initially have to do work there. Of course, the turbine can also be switched off completely. If it is again subjected to more load, the speed regulator gradually opens the rotary valve l, closes the bypass line m and, if the load is even greater, it opens the rotary valve i built into the exhaust line e so that the same pressure gradually sets in the exhaust line e as in the pipe o located behind the valve t leading to the heater. In this case, the steam has the greatest possible gradient and does the greatest possible work per unit weight in the turbine.
Instead of a heating system, the steam flowing out of the turbine can be fed to any low-pressure steam system.
PATENT CLAIMS:
1. Regulation of a low-pressure steam system with an upstream back-pressure turbine, characterized in that a speed controller increases the back pressure in the turbine to a greater or lesser extent by directly or indirectly throttling the exhaust line while maintaining the same amount of steam, thereby making the pressure gradient in the turbine smaller or larger, depending on the situation the turbine has to deliver less or more power.
