Vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von isolierenden Formkörpern für elektrotechnische Zwecke, die im wesentlichen aus Asbest, Asphalt (bezw. Vorliegende Erfindung betrifft nun ein Verfahren, um solche Körper in besonders einfacher und sicherer Weise herzustellen. Es besteht darin, dass als Ausgangsmaterial ein Pulver verwendet wird, dass durch Zerkleinerung einer eine innige Vereinigung von Asbest, Asphalt und dergleichen darstellenden Masse gewonnen wird. Durch starken Druck wird dann das Pulver zu einer festen gleichmässigen Masse vereinigt, die gegebenenfalls unter Krwannen getrocknet wird, um das Verdampfen der zum Befeuchten dienenden organischen Flüssigkeit zu beschleunigen.
Die als Ausgangsmaterial dienende Asphalt-Asbest-Masse, die in zerkleinertem Zustande weiter behandelt wird, kann dabei in beliebiger Weise hergestellt werden, beispielsweise so, dass Asbest direkt mit Asphalt im heissen Zustande verknetet wird oder aber so, dass der Asphalt zunächst in einem flüchtigen Lösungsmittel gelöst, dann mit Asbest innig gemenge und hierauf getrocknet und gemahlen wird.
