Just like this substance, z. B. in a vacuum or at higher pressure sulfuric acid, glycerol, nitric acid otc.-vapors that condense at a higher temperature than the water, are separated from water vapors by cooling with water boiling at the same pressure. In the opposite case z. B. In alcohol distillation, alcohol is used as the boiling coolant. In petroleum distillation in vacuo or at elevated pressure, the appropriate fractions of petroleum are used as cooling liquids. Of course, in such cases, the cooling liquids can be represented by any other liquid having the same boiling point.
It can become possible that the temperature of a cooling liquid may remain below the condensation temperature of a vapor, but must be higher than that of the vapor condensing at the closest temperature. This can be achieved by using appropriate salt solutions or other liquids that boil under the same vacuum as the vapors to be condensed. You can also do this by z. B. the room in which the cooling liquid is boiling is connected to the vacuum by a narrow pipe, so that the pressure of the cooling liquid is always a constant interval higher than the pressure in the vacuum of the vapors to be condensed. Of course, you can create such an interval in other known ways. Of course you can z.
B. for the purpose of separating complicated vapor mixtures or for the purpose of condensation of chemically similarly composed vapor mixtures to liquids of different concentrations, if necessary, connect several of the devices described in series.
