Process for the production of Portland cement
It is known to produce cement from silicate-containing materials on the one hand and highly lime-containing material of various origins on the other. The method described below is based on the use of the saturation sludge obtained from juice purification in sugar production as a calcareous material. Lime sludge, as it comes from the alkali, cellulose, sugar, borax and other factories, has already been used for cement production by mixing the lime sludge with clay materials in appropriate proportions after the harmful salts contained in the sludge have been rendered harmless and then finished the cement in the usual way.
However, according to the present method, the separated or dried sludge is not mixed with the silicates in the same way as the previously used method of production, but the mixing of the silicate with the lime-containing substances takes place in the course of the saturation process practiced in sugar production, by adding the silicates either in the saturator or the Lime milk has been added to the sugar juices before they are mixed. between the proportions that the separated sludge has the composition of the Portland tint raw mass. With the present ancestor, the saturation process achieves a particularly intimate mixing, especially since it takes place in a fairly dilute liquid.
The addition of silicate-containing substances in small amounts to the lime has been used earlier in the course of the saturation process for the purpose of cleaning the beet juice and the like between in the ratio of 4/10-G / 100/0 clay to 21 / 2-40, / o lime, all calculated on the beet quantum put into work. However, the sludge deposited in this way does not have the composition of a raw Portland cement mass. In contrast, the sludge pressed in the usual way in filter presses in the present process after the end of the saturation process can be burned directly without first having to be shaped and, after grinding, easily gives a high-quality Portland cement.
