The invention relates to a method for operating the plasticizing an injection molding machine, with a metering screw, which moves back against a hydraulically applied back pressure in a cylinder during plasticizing, whereupon the pressure of the plastic in the screw antechamber is reduced by a further movement of the screw.
If plastic is not injected immediately after plasticizing, it must be ensured that no plastic is released when the injection nozzle is lifted. To achieve this, one can either use controlled closing nozzles or move the screw back by a defined distance and thereby relieve the plastic in the screw antechamber.
It has been found that in the initially pressure-relieved plasticized plastic again an overpressure can build up, which is due to the heating of the plasticizer. This overpressure can eject a plug of cooled material, which closes the injection nozzle, so violently that damage to machine parts can occur and also a protective disk does not reliably protect the operating personnel. This is the case in particular when the injection takes place in the mold parting plane and thus, when the mold is open, the injection device is directed directly at the operator.
In principle, hydraulic shutter nozzles are suitable for solving the problem, but the associated expense is high. Also proposed mechanically pivotable flaps (flaps) for the closure nozzle are not used in every tool and also associated with design effort.
The invention is based on the recognition that a pressure build-up in the plasticizing cylinder closed by a cold plug can then be ruled out if the screw in all circumstances has the possibility of avoiding the pressure in the screw antechamber.
According to the invention, it is thus provided that, after the pressure has been released, the screw can still be moved back by a distance which amounts to at least 3%, preferably 10%, of the total stroke of the screw and that the hydraulic drive of the screw is depressurized during this movement.
The structural implementation of the inventive concept will be explained with reference to the drawing, which schematically illustrates a plasticizing in longitudinal section.
The illustrated plasticizing device consists in the usual way of a screw 1, which is rotatably arranged in the plasticizing cylinder 2. The supplied via the hopper 3 material is plasticized in the screw and collects in the screw antechamber 4. During the plasticizing process, the screw 1 is under the pressure of a hydraulic piston 6, which is displaceable in the drive cylinder 11. The open nozzle 5 is applied to the closed by the originating from the previous cycle runner shape. Thus, when lifting the nozzle 5 from the mold, not shown, the plastic does not splash outward or at least drips, takes place after plasticizing a displacement of the screw 1 to the right about the adjustable on the control of the Kompressionsentlastungshub.
According to the innovation, the piston 6 may not be located on the rightmost side of the drive cylinder 11 after the compression release stroke. The movement of the worm 1 must therefore be controlled so that its end position monitored by the sensor 7 allows deflection of the piston 6 by the distance b, after it has traversed the distance a as Dosierhub and Kompressionsentlastungshub.
So that no pressure can build up due to heating of the plasticate in the screw antechamber 4, the drive cylinder 11 must remain connected to the tank 12 of the hydraulic drive after the compression relief stroke. For this purpose, preferably an electrically controlled valve 9, which is brought in case of failure of the power supply by a spring 10 in the position shown in the drawing. As a result, even when the pump 8 continues to run in the drive cylinder 11 no back pressure build up, which would hinder the displacement of the screw 11 to the right.
It is preferably provided to interrupt the power supply of the valve 9 when the protective grid of the device is opened. Then not only automatically an immediate pressure relief in the antechamber 4, but this relief is guaranteed by the avoidance distance b continues.
