Continuously operating hot-dip coating systems for steel strips are usually delivered in coil form, unwound using an unwinding device and passed through several process sections, via support, deflection and steering rollers, strip storage devices and transported by driven rollers. At the end of the treatment section, the steel strip is rewound into a bundle using a winding device.
The process section, viewed in the direction of strip travel, consists of an annealing or preheating furnace, a metal coating container, a zinc layer thickness control, a strip cooling device to be considered here and a mechanical and chemical surface treatment.
The steel strip is coming from the annealing furnace through a hot-dip coating container, e.g. B. for zinc with a working temperature of approx. 450 - 480 C, performed. I.e. the coated steel strip emerges from the metal bath with an adherent molten zinc layer and just the aforementioned temperature. So that the steel strip can be transported further through the system, it is guided vertically in the following section without touching it upwards and subjected to cooling air until the strip temperature has been reduced to at least below 320 ° C. Once this zinc hardening temperature has been reached, the strip can be guided downwards again via deflection rollers into the subsequent process stages.
Depending on the belt speed and the performance of the above-mentioned belt cooling, a correspondingly high, so-called cooling tower and several cooling air blower boxes as well as associated blower fans are required. In conventional systems, these cooling fans usually run at the maximum output that corresponds to the maximum strip size (strip width, strip thickness), although the proportion of the production of strips with the maximum dimension is usually very small.
The object of the problem solution is now to optimize the cooling effect / performance for the temperature reduction of the belt from approx. 450 to below 320 C and thereby to reduce the enormous energy consumption of the blower motors to the level required for the aforementioned cooling of the continuous ones Band dimension is sufficient.
Figures A, B and C show schematically the structure and mode of operation of air coolers with bandwidth adjustment, the starting point for the energy reduction is the adjustment of the blow-out width of the air slots (7) of the coolers (2) to the effective width of the one to be cooled Steel strip (1) and simultaneous
Reduction of cooling fan performance, e.g. B. on frequency control of the blower motor (on the
Representation of the cooling fans and the movable supply air lines to the cooling boxes was omitted in the schematic drawings).
- The blow-out width of the air slots is adjusted by closing them so far with cover panels that the remaining opening width corresponds to the width of the continuous belt. Since the front and back of the steel strip are always cooled by a cool box of the same construction, the slot cover on both boxes must be done simultaneously.
- In accordance with the resulting effective blow-out cross-section, the speed and thus the air volume of the blower motors must be suitably adapted. The funded
Air volume (3) then always corresponds to the required cooling effect - the air outlet speed, one of the basic parameters for the calculated, required convection, remains constant, regardless of the bandwidth.
- The bandwidth adjustment described above is achieved in that each of the blower boxes (2) can be suspended on a rail support (4) and moved across the belt running direction by means of a motorized roller drive (5) or hydraulically or pneumatically 90. A cover plate (6) is attached to the outside of each blow box (2) so that it covers the blow-out slots (7) of the opposite blow box (2) accordingly - moving the two boxes towards the center of the strip at the same time leaves them narrower, and moving them apart wider Blow out openings arise.
- The required travel of the blow boxes (2) is determined for each strip edge by a corresponding bank edge detection (8). This also records any deviations from the belt run in the center of the system as well as the program-related bandwidth changes. The
Bandwidth detection (8) gives the setpoint for travel drives (5) and cooling
Fan speed.
